It’s tough to get noticed in the congested smartphone market. This is especially true in the Android arena now that Samsung has set the bar too high for everyone else. Last year, Huawei showed us that they are capable of producing quality smartphones that can give the industry leaders a run for their money through their flagship P9 phones.
The Chinese Telecommunication giant recently announced the release of their P10 this March. A lot of critics argue that the P10 is no different from its predecessor so let’s have an in-depth review of this new flagship phone of Huawei and see if they really took things to another level.
Is the P10 any different from its predecessor?
DESIGN
While they might have the similar minimalist look, P10 has altered its shape with it’s more rounded corners for easier single hand navigation and grip. Another welcome change is the fingerprint scanner which is now comfortably located in the front, below the display, when it used to be at the back on the P9.
WHAT STANDS OUT : In terms of design, what stands out for the P10 is its durable Gorilla Glass 5 display, which makes it less vulnerable to scratches. It also comes with 8 color options, and with its diamond cut finish, it is fingerprint resistant and palpable to the touch.
FEATURES and SPECS
While the P9 is also running on an Octa core Kirin 960 cpu, the P10 runs on an upgrade version of the same,so expect better efficiency. It has 4GB of RAM, as well as Mali – G71 MP8 graphics and 64GB memory. One of the features that Huawei P series was praised for is its cameras. Its Leica co-engineered rear camera that P9 have has been upgraded with a 20mp monochrome sensor and another 12mp color sensor. It has Image stabilization and 4K video playback, something which the P9 doesn’t offer.
WHAT STANDS OUT : The P10 features the latest Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5.1 for a better user experience compared to its counterpart. Its camera also has a Portrait mode which analyzes your face and improve its lighting elements to give higher quality portraits or “selfies” to users. The best feature that I really love about P10 is its fast charging option, which makes it charge 50% faster than its predecessor and 400% faster than the IPhone 7 plus.

CONCLUSION
With faster internals, a range of color options, and highly improved camera features, I would say that Huawei indeed took their P10 to another level. Of course, we need to try it longer before we pass the final judgment, and with it’s late March release date in U.K. ( May / June in Australia), I might be tempted to buy it for it’s possible price of £550, and claim it as my phone for the rest of 2017.
